painting by Joe Maktima of a grandmother storyteller with eleven children huddled around her as she tells stories

The cover featured a commissioned painting by Joe Maktima of a grandmother storyteller with eleven children huddled around her as she tells stories (see picture above). In the words of artist Maktima, "With the storyteller concept in mind and the understanding of the mission of AIRRTC, I opted to portray the storyteller image surrounded by youths from some of the many different Native tribes of the United States, some in their Native dress, others in more modern attire. Understanding the work and goals of AIRRTC, and conference objectives for which this artwork was specifically created, I've portrayed some of the children with physical disabilities."
