Knowledge Translation (KT) is a significant component of NIDRR’s commitment to the realization of benefits from its funded R&D for people with disabilities. This workshop aims to equip NIDRR grantees and program officers with another tool to help in the achievement of that goal. Knowledge Value Mapping (KVM) is a general approach to the analysis of the dynamics of knowledge in complex contexts and can be applied with benefit to the challenges of KT. The workshop will cover the conceptual framework of KVM and the process of application to KT issues for NIDRR R&D activities.
The main goals of the workshop are that participants will be able to:
- Understand the core principles of the Knowledge Value Framework
- Understand how KVM is relevant to KT challenges in NIDRR-sponsored R&D
- Apply basic KVM procedures to their own research field
- Assess what a full-blown application of KVM to an R&D field would entail
