NCDDR Partner:
The Rehabilitation and Related Therapies Field of the Cochrane Collaboration
The NCDDR is pleased to highlight its partnership with the Cochrane Collaboration's "Rehabilitation and Related Therapies (R&RT) Field." The Centre for Evidence Based Physiotherapy (CEBP) based at Maastricht University serves as the home of R&RT Field.
The R&RT Field's mission is to ensure that patients receive effective interventions for the best health outcomes based on up-to-date evidence, and that health care providers have up-to-date and easy access to the latest evidence. The Field works closely with relevant Cochrane entities and the CEBP, and is embedded in the Care and Public Health Research Institute (CAPHRI) in the Department of Epidemiology, Maastricht University.
The R&RT Field works with a small core staff, an international advisory board and reviewers/researchers from varying biomedical background and contributes to the evidence base of care by generating and disseminating evidence. The Field is actively seeking further consumer involvement.
The NCDDR welcomes the participation of the R&RT Field in our efforts to raise awareness about the Cochrane Collaboration and in particular, the Rehabilitation and Related Therapies Field, among NIDRR grantees. Specific areas of collaboration include:
- identifying strategies to encourage the production of more systematic reviews in the disability and rehabilitation area for submission to the Cochrane Rehabilitation & Related Therapies Field Group.
- locating and organizing disability and rehabilitation research reviews in the Cochrane Collaboration Library or within study/field groups that may be of interest and use by people with disabilities, their families, and practitioners that provide services to them.
